Things

First, I tried the chocolate cake-in-a-mug last night without the chocolate chips and Sarah and I preferred it that way. The chocolate chips make it very rich.

Second, I wanted to say that the rumors you have always heard about HOCKEY being an expensive sport to play are completely true. Jacob is going to play on a team this year and I cannot believe the expense... not just the fee to play (which is very high), but also the equipment- even used equipment is expensive. And you have to have SO much of it. Helmet, mouth guard, pads- lots of them, pants, socks, skates, stick, gloves, the list goes on. Then there's the fact that the closest ice rink is 20 minutes away and the next closest (which we may get assigned to) is 30 minutes away. Practices are only once a week and there is only one game per week- but the season is almost 6 months long! I guess it will be cool to be a "hockey mom" in addition to a "soccer mom". But, you may get to hear lots of complaining in the coming months! :-)

Third, here is a verse I've been thinking about since bible class at church last night. It really seems God ought to be ashamed of us most of the time... but He's not. That just struck me as really good news!

Hebrews 11:15-16 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
