Spring

It's Spring! But feels like summer outside! That's usually how it is here... goes right from winter to summer without much in between. Still, the trees are blooming and our yard is so beautiful.....

.....and I'm popping the Zyrtec daily (my regular habit during April and May)......

And the dog likes to be outside now that it's warmed up....

I haven't blogged much about the dog...partly because it has taken me a while to warm up to him. His name is Tyler, he's a Whippet and he was 8 months old on March 23. He's becoming more obedient and hasn't had an accident in the house in a while... so he's getting out of his crate more these days. And I'm starting to think I could probably love him eventually. The only thing I really hate is that when we're alone during the day, he follows me EVERYWHERE I go when he's not in the crate and when he IS in the crate, he cries constantly when I leave the room. So I'm either tripping over him or yelling for him to shut up. Right now he is laying at my feet, trying to sleep. But if I get up and leave the room, he will pop up and follow me. I think he always thinks I might be about to give him some food at any minute, so he can't leave my side just in case. I also think he's a bit clingy. Which... is probably not the best characteristic for a dog I'm going to be with alot. I don't like to be clung to much.

He is a shy dog, too. Actually... what he is - is a scaredy cat. He refuses to leave our yard to go on a walk because he's terrified of the world. You have to pull him across the street. Then when he gets to the end of the street, he tries desperately to turn around and come home. The farther around the block you get, the faster he goes... and the more dogs we hear barking, the faster he goes.

Last night Tim had him out and he met the little dog from two houses down-- a Cockapoo named Roobear. Picture the friendliest, cutest, fur-ball of a dog and that's Roobear. Tyler is twice his size and probably twice as fast (being a breed that is basically just a small greyhound)... and when they met, Tyler trembled in fear, pooped and peed all over himself right there in the presence of the FEROCIOUS Roobear. I laughed about it all night long after Tim told me.

Besides the dog........ I am enjoying a glorious spring day to myself, as Tim and the two youngest have gone to Lads to Leaders and Sarah has plans after school with friends. I have gotten ALOT done in the house... still have alot to do. But my favorite is having the windows open while I clean.......

And, in addition to the open window, I wanted to show off my new table cloth that matches the new border in the kitchen. (Actually matches, too- same brand, same line... go Walmart!)
Finally.... Happy Birthday to my dear friend, Beth, who also doesn't like to be clung to... a kindred spirit.... without whom I never would have experienced a Rodeo or known what it was like to receive a card from a Coyote. And God bless the womb that gave birth to her (because I know you read regularly, Grancy!)

Brenda, your dog sounds so much like mine! Yes, the following me around everytime I get up (even to the bathroom) does drive me nuts, but I take deep breaths and TRY not to get so frustrated - I know he means well. Kaiser is also a afraid of going on walks and is embarrassing. He freaks out, either runs, barks, cries, and yes, tries to get back to the house. It's not good. But, he has grown on us, so he's hear to stay! (And I have already invested too much money in him!)
