New Table

A long while back when I was working at Savvy Home, I bought this dining room set for cheap on Craiglist to put on consignment.  Well, it never sold.  (It has some scratches and one of the chairs has an arm glued on-but you really can't tell).  After the unfortunate demise of one of my chairs from my old oak table at Thanksgiving.... I decided to get rid of that one and bring this one home.  I just LOVE it- it really classes up the place!

Memories

One day in the Fall, Jacob and I had some time to kill, so we went to the playground in the very first neighborhood we lived in when we bought our first house.  All of our kids were born there, but Jacob was two when we moved, so he doesn't really remember it.  I do, though.  And I remember taking the kids to the playground alot- it was just a short walk from home.

I remember Sarah being about three years old and watching the bigger kids climb the ladder up the slide and being determined to try it herself.  Even though I was never a really nervous parent, I remember being scared to death.  But even at three, it was hard to tell Sarah she couldn't do something once her mind was set on it.

I remember the many "spin us one more time, mom" cries from children on the merry-go-round.  The smallest baby was always placed in the center.
And the swings and the endless "underdogs" I had to do.  And how sometimes, I got to swing, too.
When my kids were small and I was frazzled, I was often told I would miss those years and I scoffed... "no way".  Well, turns out it was the truth.  I do miss those years.  But I'm thankful I've got some good memories.

Libby is 14

Happy Birthday to my sweet teenager, Elizabeth Brooke, who is now 14 (as of yesterday)!  I love her sensitive heart, her love of decorating, the way she cuddles with Rufus, the occasions when she loves on her brother, her friendship with her sister, the way I will find her cleaning the bathroom (or kitchen, or her room) without me asking her to do it, her ability to empathize, her commitment to her youth group and God and her good grades.  I am so proud to be her mom and I knew she was a special one from the moment I first held her in my arms.

Recently she decided she likes coffee and wants to be able to make it at home.

For her birthday, I got her this new Keurig coffee maker.  I really think we are going to like it.  Me, because I can make hot tea with it.  Libby because she can brew a fresh cup of coffe before school to carry with her.  or anytime.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Libby!
