Pretty

I bought this little desk to sell at the store several months ago... but today I decided to bring it home. It looks so cute. I might paint it. Or I might not. :-)

Sorry I blog so much about my home decor. :-) I have other, more "important" things on my mind, but less desire these days to get on here and share them. Life is keeping me busy, busy. And I've been sick for over a week now... can't seem to shake whatever it is. But life keeps going no matter how I feel. :-)

Avon Foot Works

I promised Jacob I wouldn't put this on Facebook, but I didn't say anything about my blog. He wanted to join the girls (that includes me) in soaking our feet in the warm, bubbly foot soak stuff from Avon. He opted out of the toenail painting. :-)

Such good memories.

It Gets Worse

Warning: Not for the Squeamish! I learned a lesson today. If you snip off your dog's pawnails and draw blood- just let it bleed, or hold a cloth on it until it stops. Do not apply a tournaquet and leave it on all night. Otherwise you might end up with a $130 vet bill, two medications and.... .... a dog whose paw looks like this....

When I removed his cute little bandaging this morning, I found his paw all swollen and just sort-of dangling there. The vet thinks it may just be because I cut off the circulation to the area, but it also could be infected (which could be related to the circulation being cut off). I did NOT mean to or realize I had fastened it so tightly! I was just trying to keep blood off the carpet! Poor Rufus came home from the doctor and went straight under my bed (after I made him pose for a picture), which is where he goes when he's scared of the vacuum or otherwise wants to be alone. Poor baby. :-(

Cozy

I was out on the back porch one night waiting on Rufus to do his nightly business and looked inside the house and thought the scene was so cozy from the outside looking in... I couldn't get a good picture of it... but this was the best I could do...

Poor Ru-Ru

Mama tried to clip his paw nails and this is what happened... a makeshift tournaquet and bandage for the whole night to keep the blood off the carpet. Poor baby.

I won't be doing anymore trimming.... I will have to save it for the professionals.

It ain't nothin' but hot

Here is how I spent most of my morning... sitting under an umbrella in the blazing heat watching Sarah play soccer. (I'm sure Sarah would disagree I had the worse end of the deal!)

Newest Bargain

The previous owners of my house put a nice nail in the brick beside my front door upon which to hang something pretty (.... well.... maybe they had a "No Trespassing" sign hung from it, who knows...) But I choose to hang something pretty on it. I had a wreath there but I never thought it looked the greatest and the kids kept complaining it was ugly (well, by "kids" I mean the girls... Jacob probably never noticed it was there and wouldn't care if he did!) If you scroll down about 6 or 7 posts, you can see the wreath in the background of the picture of the girls on their first day of school. Anyway... a couple nights ago I found this cute metal butterfly thingy on the Clearance shelves at Michaels for 70% off..... only $6! I really like it. I probably could have taken a picture at a better time of day when there wasn't a shadow from the support beam...... but, you get the idea.

You Won!

Look at all these goodies I won from buying a $5 raffle ticket at the bank. (I don't normally even buy raffle tickets). I'm was so excited to hear I won!

A Backyard Surprise

So, this viney thing was growing up the side of one of my evergreens- I thought I killed it with the lawn mower... now I'm so glad I didn't! I love these little surprises you get when you buy a new house and the months roll along....

Beautiful Bargain

I'm always looking in the clearance cart at Krogers for flowers. Found these while grocery shopping... Hypericum.... never heard of it, but it's kind-of pretty. I'm sure it's generally used as part of a bouquet, but I decided to let it shine on its own. I got two bundles for $1.15 each. Go me!

Busy in the Bathroom

Kid/Guest bathroom needed towel bars.... So I installed some yesterday. Also, hung up a brown valance on the small window. I wasn't sure if I've blogged about the bathroom, thought I'd show the cute rug.

The shower curtain is really cute colors and has a "kid" sort-of forest decor with little chipmunks, but not so kiddish that it doesn't work as a guest bathroom, too. (Jacob uses this bathroom, too, so I was trying to be versatile).

Back to the towel bars... I put in this hand towel ring.

And this robe hook for more towels.

I'm very proud of what I am able to do!!!

Jacob's Room

I haven't been able to take pictures of Jacob's room because it's been too messy... but here's a little glimpse. First, he put Army stickers on his door that opens into the living room, which wouldn't have been my preference, but Sarah and I decided it was okay. :-) He wanted Army decor- so I got some removeable stickers and he already had the camo comforter. He chose the paint color for the walls. We're not completely done with the room... but here's what we have so far.

More stickers.

Walkie Talkie lightswitch plate.

Dresser I got FREE from my store (we were going to trash it). I'm going to do SOMETHING with it... paint it or something.

Ramblings

Outside my window... it's sunny and 79, but I imagine it's going to get much hotter
I am thinking... about everything I need to do to get the house cleaned up today
I am wondering... what the kids are doing right now
I am thankful...for a comfy home
In the learning rooms... I am preparing for Friday when my FOUR classes start and praying I can handle them AND a part-time job
In the kitchen... I made some delicious cookies yesterday for the guys at work... oatmeal with butterscotch chips.... they were a big hit, very yummy
I am eating...Peanut butter crackers and a Diet Coke for breakfast
I am resolving...To start eating better
I am sending...my kids off to school every day, thankful for good schools
I am wearing...Blue and white checked men's xxl shirt I bought because it looked comfortable and fits like a nightgown! No shoes. Covered in a quilt.
I am creating... jewelry again! I need a creative outlet for my mental health.
I am going....to church tomorrow at The Rock and nowhere else this whole weekend
I am looking forward... to worshipping God tomorrow at The Rock
I am reading... "The Help"... wanting to finish it before I see the movie
I am praying....For my kids more and more the older they get
I am appreciating...my family, my parents, my sister and brother... for always being there
I am discovering....that mowing the lawn and maintaining the landscaping is hard work
I am hearing....Marcia Brady looking for her diary on TV... she's so sure someone stole it
I am realizing... that life is expensive
I am wanting....Rufus to go away ;-)
I am studying...Soon to be Business Statistics, Economics, Business Law and Organizational Communication... wow. Scares me just seeing it written out.
Around the house.... every room needs to be cleaned from top to bottom and tons of laundry needs doing
I am hoping....to have all that cleaning done by the end of the day tomorrow
One of my favorite things....Watching The Brady Bunch from the first episode thanks to Netflix.
A few plans for this week....Finish up my work at the store, find a new job that will fit my schedule, drive the kids to all their various activities, mow the lawn, sleep, rest up in preparation for the start of classes Friday!

First Day of High School, Part II

She will sooooo kill me if she sees I posted this. :-)

First Day of School!

He smiled right after I took the picture... last first day of elementary school! Rufus is sad to see Jacob go to school.

I cooked pancakes and bacon (this, like, never happens so I had to take a picture to prove it!)... Libby and Kaitlyn (my extra child) enjoying it.

Kaitlyn, Sarah and Libby.

First day of high school... Fleur, Ashley, Kaitlyn and Sarah. Is this the little girl I carried?! :-(School for me starts on August 19!
